Benue State Universal Basic Education Board Launches Major Enrollment Drive in Vandeikya LGA to Increase School Enrollment Across Zone A

Benue State Universal Basic Education Board

The Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) recently expanded its Enrollment Drive Campaign to Benue Zone A. This event took place in Vandeikya LGA on Friday, following previous successful campaigns in Makurdi for Zone B and Otukpo for Zone C.

The primary goal of this campaign is to increase enrollment rates and raise awareness among key education stakeholders about the government's dedication to providing quality education for all children of school age.

Dr. Grace Adagba, the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, praised the Executive Governor of Benue State, Dr. Hyacinth Alia, for placing education at the forefront of his administration's priorities.

Although Dr. Adagba was represented by Board Secretary Dr. Joseph Jande, her appreciation for Governor Alia’s steadfast commitment to improving educational infrastructure, curriculum development, teacher welfare, and recruitment was clear.

A Call for Collective Action

Dr. Adagba emphasized the need for a united effort to ensure every child in Benue State has access to quality education through Early Childhood Care Development Education (ECCDE) Centres, Public Primary Schools, and Junior Secondary Schools.

She remarked, “The future of our children lies in education. We urge parents, guardians, and community leaders to collaborate with the government to guarantee every child’s access to basic education.”

Opening Remarks and Collaborative Efforts

Rev. Dr. Frederick Ikyaan, the Commissioner for the Ministry of Education and Knowledge Management, officially opened the event.

He urged all stakeholders to work together with the government to ensure that every child in Benue State not only attends school but also receives a quality education that prepares them for modern challenges and opportunities.

UBEC State Coordinator, Mr. Idzi Baba Emmanuel, encouraged parents and other stakeholders to support public education. He reassured them of UBEC’s commitment to ensuring quality education in public schools, emphasizing that education is a necessity and not just a right.

Community and Religious Leaders Weigh In

In their goodwill messages, Mue-Ter Kyan, Augustine Akaahan Aule, and Rev. Mlanga, CAN Coordinator Ushongo, urged community and religious leaders to enroll their children in public schools. They highlighted the vital role of education in securing a brighter future for children and the community.

They also encouraged parents to seize the educational opportunities provided by the current administration.

Addressing Out-of-School Challenges

The Enrollment Drive Campaign and Sensitization Programme is part of SUBEB's broader effort to tackle the issue of out-of-school children in Benue State.

The event saw a strong turnout from stakeholders, including parents, community leaders, religious organizations, NGOs, and representatives from the private sector.
