As the new season kicks off, Gbenga Ogunbote, the technical adviser for Shooting Stars, has shared his thoughts on the team’s performance.

The Oluyole Warriors began their 2024-25 campaign with a 1-1 draw against Nasarawa United. This opening match was held at the Lafia City Stadium, where Samuel Ayanrinde’s late goal secured a point for the Ibadan side.

Ogunbote expressed a mix of satisfaction and disappointment. “For the first game of the season, I’m pleased with the one point we earned. It’s definitely better than walking away with nothing,” he shared with 3SC media. “However, personally, I feel like we’ve lost two points.”

Missed Opportunities and Team Efforts

He felt that the game was one they should have won. “We needed to wrap it up, but coming away with a point is something to be grateful for. I didn’t foresee us losing, but we needed to stabilize ourselves and take control. Once we did that, chances started to come our way.”

Adapting to the Opposition

Ogunbote also noted the challenge posed by Nasarawa United, who recently got promoted. “Their fight in the first half was intense. We had to absorb their pressure, and once we did, we were able to come out strong in the second half.”
