In a surprising turn of events, a 27-year-old security guard in Ogun State has been arrested for his role in a significant theft operation.

Samuel Paul, who was supposed to protect the property, was caught working alongside burglars to steal items worth N2 million from a residence in the Moro area of Ogijo.

It all began when the homeowner, Mr. Olabode Ayodele, returned to his property to find it had been broken into

Ayodele discovered that valuable items, including iron materials and electrical wires, had been stolen

To make matters worse, the person tasked with keeping the house secure—his security guard—was nowhere to be found.

The stolen items were valued at a staggering N2 million.

Police Investigation and Arrest

After Ayodele reported the incident, the Ogun State police quickly sprang into action.

According to Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the command, officers from the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO II) unit began their investigation immediately after receiving the complaint on Monday morning

Their efforts paid off when they located and apprehended Samuel Paul at a hiding place.

Confession and More Arrests

During the investigation, Samuel Paul confessed to being involved in the theft

He didn’t stop there—Paul also provided information that led to the arrest of Mobarak Tesiu, a 20-year-old man believed to have received the stolen items.

Several stolen goods were recovered, and evidence, including photographs, was taken to further support the case.

Ongoing Investigation

While the two suspects have been taken into custody, the investigation is far from over.

Police are continuing their efforts to track down other suspects who remain at large, according to Odutola

The authorities are determined to ensure that all those involved in the crime are brought to justice.
