BBC prepares to release findings on Amanda Abbington’s bullying claims against Giovanni Pernice

Amanda Abbington

The BBC is preparing to reveal the results of its four-month-long investigation into serious allegations made by Sherlock star Amanda Abbington against her former Strictly Come Dancing partner, Giovanni Pernice.

Amanda, 50, accused Giovanni of bullying her during their training sessions for the popular dance show.

She claimed that his teaching methods were "unnecessary, abusive, cruel, and mean." Giovanni has firmly denied these accusations, insisting that they are untrue.

In a shocking interview, Amanda even likened her experience on the show to being in "the trenches," telling Channel 4 News that BBC producers were left "horrified" by footage that allegedly showed "humiliating behaviour of a sexual nature."

 The Investigation Is Complete

The investigation into these claims has now been completed, and the findings are set to be shared with the involved parties.

The BBC is planning to inform all sides of the outcome sometime "early next week."

However, it seems that only a small portion of the report will be made public, with the full details being reserved for Amanda, Giovanni, and their legal representatives.

The source went on to reveal that BBC executives are hoping this report will bring an end to the controversy.

However, it seems unlikely to be the case. "It's very unlikely it will do that," the source said, adding that the BBC might be dealing with this situation "for months and months."

Both Amanda and Giovanni are expected to review the report carefully with their lawyers, and appeals could follow.

The source further noted that neither party is expected to be entirely satisfied with the outcome, which could prolong the ordeal.

Amanda Abbington is reportedly "deeply disappointed" with the way BBC bosses have handled the investigation.

She has expressed concerns that the network might be protecting Giovanni, particularly given their decision to allow him to participate in the Italian version of Strictly, Ballando con le Stelle.

Milly Carlucci, the host of the Italian dance show, hinted that the BBC’s approval for Giovanni’s participation might offer insight into the nature of the accusations.

“If there had been proof,” she said, “the perpetrator of the Agatha Christie-style crime would have come out by now.”

Carlucci added that the BBC, a "very serious company," likely wouldn’t have green-lighted Giovanni’s participation if the allegations against him had been substantiated.

Awaiting Next Steps

With the report expected to be released soon, both Amanda and Giovanni are preparing for the next chapter in this ongoing saga.

The public may only get limited insight into what really went on behind the scenes, but the battle between these two high-profile figures is far from over.
